Sparling Bridge

The Problem: Traditional overhead street or bridge lighting shines directly into the water. For migrating salmonids, artificial light acts as a behavioral barrier, throwing off their natural nocturnal migration patterns and removing the protective cover of darkness.

The Solution: On the Sparling Bridge, we installed our F48 Modula LED handrails stretching across 85 meters on either side of the structure. The handrail illumination is directed entirely inward toward the walkway, completely eliminating light spill onto the water. This allows safe passage for pedestrians while keeping the river entirely dark for migrating aquatic life.
